Search Monroe County Inmate Records

Monroe County inmate records start with the county jail roster for people booked into sheriff custody. A Monroe County jail roster search can show whether a person is currently held, recently arrested, or listed by arrest date. The roster is useful for charges, bond status, arresting agency, and court routing, while separate systems handle sentenced state prisoners, federal custody, immigration detention, and notification alerts. To look up Monroe County inmates online, use the official jail roster first, then move to the jail phone line, open-records process, state locator, or national locator when the county result does not fit the custody stage.

Use Monroe County Jail Roster

The safest search starts broad. A last name is often enough to test the roster, but similar names require more review. Monroe County's public roster does not expose date of birth in the captured result text, and height, weight, and address are redacted. Use the arrest date, arresting agency, warrant or case number, court, statute, charge text, and bond status to avoid matching the wrong person.

  1. Open the sheriff-linked InteropWeb roster or start from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office detention page and choose Search for Current Inmates.
  2. Select Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, or Inmates by Arrest Date based on the custody question.
  3. Use the optional name filter, then run Search Inmates. The visible search does not require a first name, date of birth, or booking number.
  4. Review the paginated results and open the entry details for bond, court, statute, warrant number, and charge description.
  5. If the person is missing, call the Detention Center, submit an open-records request, or try GDC, VINELink, BOP, or ICE based on the custody type.

For current jail custody, the direct jail phone fallback is the Monroe County Detention Center at (478) 994-7051. Call before relying on a stale screen capture, especially if bond has just been posted, a transfer is pending, or a person was arrested by Forsyth Police, Georgia State Patrol, or another agency and has not yet appeared in the public view.

Monroe County Roster Fields

The public roster is simple, but its tabs are important. Current custody, recent arrests, and arrest-date browsing answer different questions. Monroe County does not publish a visible wildcard rule, minimum character rule, or refresh schedule on the captured roster, so the search should be treated as a public lookup tool rather than certified proof.

Monroe County Inmate Profile Details

A Monroe County inmate record is a booking and custody record, not the final court file. It can still be highly useful because it names the court, gives the charge statute, lists the charge text, and shows whether bond is a dollar amount, not set, or denied. The field inventory below reflects the public InteropWeb capture from June 4, 2026.

FieldWhat It Shows
NameUppercase last, first, and middle or extra names.
StatusCurrent entries showed CURRENTLY BOOKED.
SexM/F value was visible; other demographics were limited.
MugshotNo public booking photo was shown; the sheriff says booking photographs are not posted on the website.
Arrest DateDate plus arresting agency, such as Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Days In JailNumeric count of days in custody on the public roster.
Total BondDollar amount or status such as NOT SET or DENIED.
Charge TableWarrant number, counts, statute, description, misdemeanor/felony marker, and court.
Redacted FieldsHeight, weight, and address fields were present but redacted in public view.

The court label is a routing clue. Roster examples showed Superior Court and Probate Court, but the jail entry is still an arrest-side record. Formal charges and final case outcomes must be checked with the court clerk or case-access system.

Monroe County Booking Records Requests

When the public roster does not provide enough detail, use the sheriff's open-records channel. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office accepts requests through its open-records request page, by email at records@monroecosheriffga.us, by phone at (478) 994-7717, by fax at (478) 992-5075, by mail, or in person at the sheriff's office address. The page says a records custodian responds within 3 business days and gives an estimated completion time and cost if a fee applies.

Do not prepay. Monroe County says an invoice will be sent if charges apply, and the invoice must be paid before records are released. The sheriff cites O.C.G.A. 50-18-71 for research fees tied to the lowest-paid qualified employee, with no charge if the work takes less than 15 minutes. Some records may be emailed, some may need pickup, and mail delivery can add cost.

Include the person's full name, arrest date, warrant or case number if known, and the record type requested so the custodian can route the jail record without extra delay.

Monroe County Jail Facilities

Monroe County has two custody locations that readers often confuse. The sheriff-run Monroe County Detention Center is the county jail for current arrests, pretrial holds, bondable cases, county-time sentences, and state-time sentences awaiting transfer. Burruss Correctional Training Center is a Georgia Department of Corrections state prison in Forsyth. Burruss is not searched through the county roster.

Monroe County Custody Lookup Paths

A county jail roster answers only part of an inmate-record question. Monroe County detention records cover the county stage. GDC covers Georgia state-prison custody after a state sentence and transfer. BOP covers federal prisoners, usually after federal sentencing or commitment. ICE ODLS covers immigration custody and has separate search limits. VINELink is best treated as a custody-notification and alert tool, not as a replacement for the sheriff or GDC.

Custody TypeBest First SourceWhat It Means

Federal sentenced custodyBOP inmate locatorFederal prison location and release-date information when in BOP custody.
Immigration detentionICE detainee locatorICE custody search by A-number or name, date of birth, and country of birth.

Federal pretrial custody is a common gap. A person may be held for the U.S. Marshals before BOP has a public locator result. Monroe County's 2025 Q2 jail report also shows DHS detainer activity, so a person can remain in the county jail with an immigration hold before any ICE locator result appears.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office also promotes a mobile app in the Google Play and Apple App Store listings. Sheriff graphics show Jail Info and Inmate Search modules, while the store listings describe public-safety news, anonymous tips, and other interactive features. Treat the app as an added sheriff channel, not as a substitute for the roster, jail phone, or records custodian. For direct agency numbers beyond the jail line, the sheriff's frequent numbers and addresses page lists detention, courts, victim services, Burruss, and nearby corrections contacts.

Monroe County Booking Timeline

The detention division receives and processes people arrested by Monroe County agencies, Forsyth Police, Georgia State Patrol, and other law-enforcement agencies operating in the county. Detention deputies handle intake, booking operations, prisoner transports, and pickups. After booking, the public roster may show the person's name, current status, sex, arrest date, arresting agency, days in jail, total bond, warrant number, statute, charge description, misdemeanor or felony marker, and court.

Bond changes the next step. Monroe County's bonding page says bond can be made any time, day or night, if the charge is bondable. A roster result may show a dollar amount, NOT SET, or DENIED. A listed bond does not always guarantee release, because another hold, probation or parole issue, court no-bond order, or immigration detainer may keep the person in custody.

Monroe County Jail Visits

Visitation and communication rules come from the sheriff's inmate communications page. The page contains older in-person cancellation language and active video/tier schedule details, so visitors should call (478) 994-7051 before traveling. JailATM handles video visit and messaging. On-site kiosk visits are described as free, 15 minutes per visitor, and tied to the inmate's designated visitation day. Remote visits can be done through JailATM and may be available any day until late evening.

Monroe County Inmate Contact

Personal mail for Monroe County jail custody is sent through JailATM's Atlanta scanning address, not directly to the jail. The sheriff's inmate communications page says personal mail is opened, scanned, and made available electronically for 14 days. Legal mail and business or transactional documents go to the jail address in Forsyth and must follow the approved formatting rules.

Housing-area phones are available 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. Calls may use prepaid phone time or collect calling, and non-privileged personal calls may be monitored. Correct Solutions support and CSGPay are the phone-account channels documented in the research.

Commissary is handled through McDaniel's Supply Company, with deposits through the jail lobby kiosk and online options documented on the sheriff's inmate support services page. Funds in cash, money order, or certified check found during booking are credited to the inmate's commissary account. No money can be transferred between inmate accounts, and outside commissary items are not accepted into housing.

Note: Confirm current custody with the jail before sending money, mail, or a visit request because transfers can change the rules.
